We have a Parent Teacher and Friends Association (PTFA) at the Academy.
At Discovery Academy our families and wider community are incredibly important to us. We work together each day to build our children into well rounded citizens who CARE, INSPIRE, ACHIEVE, DISCOVER and IMPROVE at every opportunity.
We very much feel that ‘we are all in this together’ and that support and cooperation within and beyond our community builds and strengthens our school and the experiences for our children.
The academy operates an ‘open door’ policy and loves to welcome families to the
‘Celebration Assemblies’ every Friday. We also have parents/carers nights out which allow for parents to meet each other and to make new friends. Our PTFA helps to support the academy by organising social and fundraising events. So far we have organised a Lego Party, Welcome Garden Party and Fancy Dress Disco. We have also raised funds by organising and helping the children to create memorial tea towels for the opening year and more recently individual Christmas cards that will be sold to families. We also love to take part in charity events like ‘Children in Need’, ‘Comic Relief’, ‘Save the Children Christmas Jumper day’ and the ‘British Heart Foundation Skip-a-thon.
Our PTFA helps to support the school by organising social and fundraising events and we love to take part in charity events like ‘Children in Need’, ‘Comic Relief’ and ‘No One Should Have No One’ a Christmas project with local elderly residents which focussed on recognising and helping with loneliness in our community.
We are very much looking forward to continuing to build our community links. If you are interested in joining our PTFA our Chair is one of our parents who can be contacted through the Academy office on 0161 368 5962.
