Homework is sent out each Friday and we kindly ask that it is returned the following Wednesday. Autumn Term 1
This half term in year 2 we will be focusing on place value. Some of the highlights of which are comparing two numbers, learning about hundreds, tens and units and continuing to learn our times tables with the 3s
Our class story is Jack and the Beanstalk this half term. We are going to be talking and learning about what language we use to describe different features of a character. We will also be looking at writing instruction this half term and the importance of using bossy verbs.
In science we are very excited about introducing the children to the Planetarium during science week at the end of October. Before that we are taking our first look at seasonal changes and investigating what wildlife we can see at the beginning of Autumn, talking about hibernation and why animals choose to do this.
We will be looking at basic programming and debugging this half term with a topic called ‘We are Astronauts’. In this we will be looking at apps and computer programs that need the children to input commands in a sequence to move their avatar across the the screen.
This half term we are looking at how the council should spend money on to make Hattersley a better place? We are taking an active role in this by holding our very own debate. We will research each proposal and then decide through a debate which project we believe is worthy of the funding.
